How To Specify Vci Odis

I kept the clone MUT 3 (Multi Use Tester v3) diagnostic and programming system for over half a year. The original direct from SPX the MUT-III package is approximately $8,000 USD. I got it at much cheaper price from eobdtool.co.uk that meets my needs.

How To Specify Vci Odis

Is an anti-theft measure. ODIS will connect to VW and FAZIT database to check if the unit is stolen. It’ll then check SVM to see if it’s up to date and remove component protection. An essential immobilizer 4 component is the central data base FAZIT at Audi in Ingolstadt.

MUT i.i.i system is easier to use comparing some professional tools, like Launch and AUTEL scanner. I’ve done several programming using MUT for engine and etacs coding in mirage and Outlander. I am going to write a review.

Which to buy?

I think the cheaper MUT3 can read (diagnose) but can’t reprogram. If you need reprogramming/coding, you have to get a coding one. The difference between a “coding” and a “non-coding” MUT III is that different VCI versions or whatever. I got one that claimed will do reprogramming and coding.

Payment & Shipping:

Euro 979.00 plus 50 Euro shipping cost via DHL 7 day’s delivery

Package including:

A later version 2014.03V of software (ALL of them come with software), a CF programming card and specifically stated it was a programming version.

An aluminum hardware case

A VCI module (Vehicle Communication Interface)

Several OBD2 cables and connectors

After browsed the user manual, I learned that the blue cable is appropriate for all CAN-bus Mitsubishi cars. The red dual-head unit is for FUSO trucks.

Just thought I’d throw this up there for anyone interested.

Software installation:

Software installation is a little bit tricky. I installed it on a old Windows XP SP3 Dell laptop with IE 6.0 (needs IE 6.0 or 8.0). I did not take a risk to install it on Win 7 or VM (as far as I know it cannot be loaded on VM). I did not want to cause much trouble.

Diagnosis & Programming:

The VCI connects to the OBD2 port on the CAN bus via an included cable, then to a USB port on the computer with a standard A/B USB cable. Then the computer speaks to the car via the VCI connection. See my attachment “Mitsubishi Diagnostic Connectors”

Connected the MUT-3 VCI to my Mirage and then to the notebook. The car was recognized, assorted settings are available to be programmed or changed (TPMS, door lock settings, wiper speed settings, etc. And all the expected CAN bus stuff, SAS stuff, and code checking/clearing. So far, so good. Rewriting the vehicles ECU, rewriting the vehicles TCM, reading diagnosis codes, and clearing diagnosis codes all not problem. My MUT 3 clone cannot do programming online, can only do programming offline.

I’d like to write a guide for MUT-III/VCI owners looking to perform common tasks.

And many other features, I am not going to list all them here. I am not affiliated with the dealer or China clone. I am just reporting what I’ve done with my machine.
